New Delhi: A disturbing incident has come to light from Bihar'sPurnia where a group of Delhi Police officers were taken hostage by local residents following a mistaken raid. The situation began when officers arrived at the wrong address while searching for a rape suspect, leading to significant unrest and protests in the area.
The situation unfolded when Delhi Police, investigating a rape case, mistakenly targeted the home of Krishna Chaudhary and his wife. The officers, who had arrived without a search warrant, entered the couple’s bedroom and began their search. Krishna Chaudhary reported, "They forcibly entered our bedroom and behaved rudely. There was no female constable with them. They grabbed my wife and me and pushed us. When I showed my Aadhar card, they admitted they were at the wrong address."
As the police continued their search, neighbours gathered and the situation escalated. The local residents, upset by the intrusion, detained the Delhi Police officers until the Bihar Police intervened. According to reports, the Delhi Police team included one officer in uniform and four in plain clothes. The Chaudharys described how the officers forcefully took the wife by the wrist and dragged her away.
After realizing their mistake, the Delhi Police officers were held by the locals until the Bihar Police arrived on the scene. The detained officers were eventually released after the Delhi Police issued a written apology to the residents. The Delhi Police had been in Purnia searching for a suspect who had fled from Delhi, leading to the mistaken raid and subsequent standoff. The local community later assisted the Delhi Police in apprehending the actual suspect.
