New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made an unexpected visit to Ladma, the village of former MLA and political strongman Anant Singh. As soon as the Chief Minister's convoy reached the area, Anant Singh himself arrived to meet him on the road. Also present during the meeting was Union Minister and Munger MP Lallan Singh. However, details of their conversation remain undisclosed.

This surprise encounter comes just days after Anant Singh's release from jail. On August 25, Singh met Nitish Kumar for the first time post his release at the Chief Minister's residence, Ek Ane Marg. That meeting, which lasted for half an hour, was described by Singh as personal, yet it fueled considerable political speculation. Today’s impromptu meeting in Ladma has only added to the intrigue.

Nitish Kumar's inspections

Earlier in the day, CM Nitish Kumar visited Bakhtiyarpur to inspect various development projects. His agenda included reviewing the construction of the Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama four-lane railway overbridge near Karanauti and the Bakhtiyarpur-Karjan-Tajpur bridge. He also inaugurated a new residential block cum zonal building in Belchi block, built at a cost of approximately ₹20 crore.

Following these inspections, the Chief Minister’s convoy unexpectedly veered toward Anant Singh’s village. Upon hearing the news, Singh rushed to meet Nitish Kumar, resulting in their meeting halfway on the road, a move that has triggered renewed political chatter.

Speculation of political re-entry

Anant Singh, a former five-time MLA, has a long political history with Nitish Kumar’s JDU. After his recent release from Beur Jail on August 16 following his acquittal in the AK-47 case by the Patna High Court, rumors of his potential return to JDU have intensified. Singh lost his MLA status in 2022 after being sentenced to 10 years by a lower court when the AK-47 was found in his residence. His political journey includes three terms with JDU, one as an independent, and the most recent with RJD.
