Sushil Kumar Modi, a prominent BJP leader and the former deputy chief minister of Bihar, passed away on Monday at the age of 72. The BJP veteran had been battling cancer for a long time now.
Samrat Chaudhary, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, wrote on social media platform X, "Humble tribute to former Bihar deputy chief minister and ex-Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sushil Kumar Modi ji on his demise. It is an irreparable loss for Bihar."

In a post on X, Vijay Kumar Sinha verified Sushil Kumar Modi's passing. he wrote that for many employees like him as well as the broader BJP organization family, this is an irreversible loss. His ability to organize, his grasp of administration, and his in-depth knowledge of social and political issues will live on in his memory forever. May God give the family courage during this difficult time and eternal peace for the departed soul, in his x post.

He had declared he would not be participating in the BJP's Lok Sabha election campaign after receiving a cancer diagnosis six months prior.

"I have been battling cancer for the last six months. Now, I feel that the time has come to inform people about it. I will not be able to do anything for the Lok Sabha elections," he had posted on X.
