New Delhi: A horrific incident has come to light from in Bihars Bhagalpur where five members of a family, including a woman who was constable, her two children, her sister-in-law and her husband have been brutally killed. Initial investigations suggest the murders may be linked to an illicit relationship, though this is still under investigation. According to police reports, the sequence of events started with four murders, followed by the husband, Pankaj, committing suicide.Background of Neetu and PankajThe tragic outcome was unforeseen by many who knew Neetu and Pankajs love story. Neetu, who worked in a mall, met Pankaj there, and their relationship blossomed. Neetu passed the constable exam and joined the police force in 2016, initially posted in Navgachiya and later transferred to Bhagalpur in 2022. Neetu married Pankaj after completing her training, with Pankaj hailing from Ara.Shocking blood bath unleeshesThe horrific crime unfolded in Bhagalpur Police Lines government quarters. Reports indicate that Pankaj suspected his wife of an illicit affair, which led him to murder her, their two children and his mother-in-law before taking his own life. A suicide note found at the scene claimed Neetu had killed her children and mother, which enraged Pankaj, prompting his violent actions.The police have recovered the knife used in the murders to slit throat which had blood stains despite being washed. The suicide note, found beneath Pankajs mobile phone falsely accused Neetu of the crimes. The ongoing investigation has revealed frequent domestic disputes between the couple, often centered around suspected illicit relationships. Neetu, who was posted at Bhagalpur SSP office and Pankaj had previously worked together at a mall.Discovery and investigationThe crime was discovered when Neetus milkman, unable to get a response, alerted the police. Senior officers broke into the residence and were met with a grim scene where Pankaj hanging from the ceiling and the other victims covered in blood. The crime scene indicated a sharp weapon was used. DIG Vivekanand of Bhagalpur Range stated that initial findings suggest Pankajs suspicion of his wifes affair triggered the murders. Neetu, from Buxar, had married Pankaj about nine years ago and was recently involved with another constable, who is now under questioning.
