Bihar Crime News: In a harrowing case from Jamui, Bihar, a woman’s persistent struggle against her husband’s illicit relationship with her daughter-in-law has ended in tragedy. The shocking incident has unveiled deep-seated issues within a family that culminated in the untimely death of 55-year-old Sampatiya Devi, raising questions about domestic violence and the systemic failure to protect vulnerable individuals.

Ill-fated relationship

Reports indicate that Sampatiya Devi had been aware of her husband, Baldev Yadav's, illicit relationship with their daughter-in-law for the past decade. The situation escalated over the years, causing significant distress for Sampatiya. Despite her repeated attempts to confront the pair and urging them to end their relationship, her pleas were met with hostility and violence. This ongoing harassment forced Sampatiya to seek refuge at her daughters' home, returning occasionally to her in-laws’ house.

On one such visit, Sampatiya attempted once more to address the issue, resulting in a violent altercation. The emotional toll of the continued abuse proved unbearable, leading her to take her own life by consuming poison.

Allegations of murder

Following her tragic death, Sampatiya's daughter, Lalita, has vehemently accused her father, brother, and sister-in-law of murder. She claims that her mother was not only physically assaulted but also starved as a punishment for opposing the illicit relationship. "My mother was beaten and poisoned to death. Now, all of them have fled," Lalita asserted, painting a grim picture of the household dynamics and the potential complicity of family members in her mother’s demise.

Ongoing investigation

The local police, led by Station House Officer (SHO) Sanjay Kumar Singh, have begun investigating the circumstances surrounding Sampatiya's death. Preliminary findings suggest that she took her life following a dispute with her daughter-in-law. The authorities have sent her body to Jamui Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Investigations are underway to apprehend all individuals involved in this distressing incident.
