Bihar: Bikers snatch Rs 1 lakh from woman in broad daylight, visual surfaces

Crime News: In a brazen daylight heist, two men on a motorcycle stole a bag containing Rs 1 lakh from a woman in Samastipur, Bihar. The robbery, which unfolded today, was recorded by a nearby surveillance camera. The footage reveals the thieves targeting the woman as she was stopped on the roadside.

The robbery occurred on Musarigharari-Patori Road, near the Jagadamba Ply Factory. The woman, identified as Durga Kumari, had just withdrawn Rs1 lakh from a State Bank of India (SBI) branch and was accompanied by a man on a bike. As they paused momentarily, two men on a motorcycle approached, slowed down, and seized the bag from Kumari’s hand.

Unable to catch robbers

Reacting swiftly, Kumari dismounted her bike and chased after the robbers, but they quickly sped away. The man accompanying her also attempted to run after the thieves but was unable to catch up. The bag contained not only the ₹1 lakh in cash but also a mobile phone worth ₹25,000, ATM cards, and other important documents.

What has victim said?

Kumari recounted the incident, stating, "We stopped briefly for some work, and within that short span, the thieves snatched the bag and escaped. We had just withdrawn the money and were not expecting such an incident."

Police action

A police report has been filed, and an investigation is underway to apprehend the culprits. Authorities are reviewing the CCTV footage and following leads to resolve the case and recover the stolen items.
