Setting aside the CBI courts life imprisonment order, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday acquitted Sirsas Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim in the Ranjit Singh murder case. He was awarded life term by the CBI court in Panchkula in 2021 and asked to pay a fine of Rs 31 lakh in the case. According to the information, this is a 22 year old case, in which the CBI court had convicted Dera Mukhi Ram Rahim after 19 years. Ramrahim is currently in jail and has been convicted in the journalist murder case and Sadhvi rape case.Whats full matter Actually, this is the case of July 10, 2002. Ranjit Singh of Kurukshetra, who was a member of the management committee of the camp, was shot dead. The Dera management suspected that Ranjit Singh had got his sister to write the anonymous letter of sexual exploitation of Sadhvi. Dissatisfied with the police investigation, Ranjit Singhs son Jagseer Singh had filed a petition in the High Court in January 2003 demanding a CBI investigation. After that the case was handed over to CBI and currently, in October 2021, five accused including Dera Mukhi were convicted.CBI took over the caseIn this case, the court had framed charges against the accused in 2007. Although initially Ramrahims name was not in this case, but in the year 2003 the investigation was handed over to CBI. Then in 2006, on the statement of Ram Rahims driver Khatta Singh, the Dera chief was included among the accused.Ram Rahim will stay in jailEven after the High Court cancels the sentence in this case, Deramukhi Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh will remain in jail. Because he has been sentenced to 20 years in the case of sexual exploitation of two nuns and life imprisonment in the Chhatrapati murder case, which he is serving. Ram Rahim was convicted in these cases by the special CBI court of Panchkula on 25 August 2017.
