Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia till May 31 in the liquor excise policy case.

Sisodia has been in custody since February 26, 2023, after arrest by the CBI. Thereafter, he was arrested by the ED. The court will hear the next case in this case on May 31. When Manish Seodia's custody period ended today, he was produced in the court where the court extended his judicial custody for another 21 days. This decision of the court has come at a time when Delhi High Court is going to give its verdict on Sisodia's bail plea today.

HC reserved its order

On May 14, the High Court had reserved its order on the bail petitions after hearing the arguments from CBI and ED besides Manish Sisodia. During the debate, the Enforcement Directorate had argued that it would make Aam Aadmi Party an accused in the next charge sheet in the money laundering case related to Delhi Liquor.

ED filed charge sheet against Delhi CM

On May 17, the ED filed a charge sheet against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case and also made the Aam Aadmi Party an accused. While requesting bail for Sisodia, his lawyer had said that the ED and CBI are still arresting people in the money laundering and corruption case and there is no possibility of early conclusion of the trial.

Both the ED and CBI have opposed Sisodia's bail plea on the grounds that concerted efforts are being made by the accused to delay the process of framing of charges in the case.
