New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced his decision to boycott the NITI Aayog meeting on Tuesday, in Delhi, which will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He expressed disappointment over the Union Budget, stating that Tamil Nadu has been completely ignored and therefore, he sees no point in attending the meeting.Disappointment over Union BudgetStalin termed the Union Budget a big disappointment, stating that the Centre has ignored Tamil Nadus needs and demands. To protest this, DMK MPs will stage a demonstration in Delhi on July 24. The Chief Minister vowed to continue fighting for Tamil Nadus rights through public support.Accusations of favoritismStalin accused the Union government of favoring certain states to please regional parties that supported the BJP. Speaking to media persons, he specifically mentioned Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, stating that these states received special schemes in the Budget, while Tamil Nadu was overlooked. He noted that none of the states demands were fulfilled, including financial assistance for ongoing projects like the Chennai Metro Rail Phase-2 and new Metro schemes for Madurai and Coimbatore.Stalin also claimed that the Union Budget copied several successful schemes from Tamil Nadu but failed to acknowledge or reward the state. For instance, while the Union Budget promises skill enhancement coaching for 20 lakh youngsters across the country over five years, Tamil Nadu already provides skill development coaching to over 15 lakh young people annually.
