Bharat Jodo Yatra any time after the first week of January 2024, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, said the sources.

Is Congress holding 'Bharat Jodo Yatra 2.0'?

Led by the leadership of Congress’ top leader Rahul Gandhi, Bharat Jodo Yatra 2.0 will be in hybrid mode, with participants marching on foot as well as using vehicles.

Citing a senior leader, sources informed that two routes are being explored for the Yatra. Once, it is finished it will begin from a Northeastern state. The special focus of this 2.0 edition would be just on Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra.

Since the proposed period will be in the run-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, Congress plans to include prominent faces from the opposition ranks.

What will happen in Phase 2 of Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi?

Just similar to the first edition of Bharat Jodo Yatra, this 2.0 will also witness a series of public meetings at the culmination point every day, addressed by Rahul himself, which is being planned in this as well.

Reportedly, Congress is set to huddle on December 21, where the ambitious second phase of the Bharat Jodo Yatra is likely to take centre stage.

What is Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra?

Notably, the first leg, a mammoth 4,080-km foot march led by Rahul Gandhi, culminated in January 2023 after traversing 12 states and 75 districts in 126 days.

Congress pitched the Yatra as a beacon of unity against the "divisive politics" of the ruling BJP, while also highlighting concerns over unemployment and inequality. The party's Working Group will now dissect the Yatra's impact and decide whether to embark on a fresh round of mass mobilisation.

With general elections looming in 2024, the Yatra's Phase 2 could emerge as a potent tool for Congress to rally its base and counter the BJP's narrative. However, questions remain about its effectiveness and whether it can translate into electoral gains. The December 21st meeting will offer crucial insights into the Congress's roadmap for the Yatra's potential next chapter.
