Bhandara turns into brawl: Women's cloth torn, stripped; Video surfaces

In the serene village of Nagla Dayaram in Firozabad, UP, what began as a celebration turned into a violent clash. The dispute stemmed from a disagreement over land ownership within the Bhagwat Katha society, pitting the incumbent Pradhan against former Pradhan members. The peaceful conclusion of the Bhagwat Katha festivities on Thursday took an unexpected turn when a grand Bhandara was organized to mark the event's end. However, tensions escalated when Manoj, son of Gram Panchayat head Prempal from Ginauli, arrived at the Bhandara with his associates.

Altercation leads to violence

Amidst the festivity, a heated argument ensued between Manoj Pradhan and Munnalal, the Katha organizer, regarding land ownership. The altercation quickly spiraled into physical violence, with allegations of open abuse and assault flying between the two parties. Shockingly, a woman's clothes were torn in the scuffle, and a poor man's hut was set ablaze.

Viral video sparks outrage

The disturbing incident was captured on video by onlookers and soon went viral on social media platforms. Local authorities were alerted, prompting immediate action from the Eka police and outpost in-charge Vijay Goswami. However, by the time law enforcement arrived, the perpetrators had fled the scene.

After the dissemination of the viral video, a case was filed against 14 individuals, including the Pradhan, based on a complaint lodged by Katha organizer Munnalal. Among the accused are prominent village figures, each facing charges related to the violent altercation.

In the altercation, five people suffered serious injuries during the chaotic brawl. According to SP Dehat Ranvijay Singh, the incident occurred during a Bhagwat celebration in Nagla Dayaram. It involved a confrontation between the incumbent and former Pradhan factions over village land ownership. Upon receiving reports of the clash, the station in-charge promptly intervened, and a case was filed against the accused based on the complaint. Subsequent action is being pursued following the gathering of evidence.
