A shocking incident unfolded in Bengaluru's tech corridor, where a homemaker's anger over not receiving a wedding anniversary gift from her husband allegedly led her to stab him while he was asleep. The Bellandur police have registered a case of attempted murder in connection with the incident, which has sent shockwaves through the community.

The victim, a 37-year-old private firm employee identified as Kiran (name changed), sustained injuries at the hands of his 35-year-old wife, Sandhya (name changed). According to Kiran's statement to the police, the attack took place around 1:30 AM on February 27, when Sandhya allegedly took a kitchen knife and stabbed him on his hand while he was sleeping.

Jolted awake by the attack, Kiran managed to push his wife away, preventing further injuries. With the assistance of neighbors, he was taken to a private hospital for treatment of his hand injury. However, due to the nature of the stab wound, doctors were compelled to file a medico-legal case report with the police, setting the investigation in motion.

A senior police officer revealed, "The case was registered against Sandhya on March 1, and she was questioned. Since it is a family matter, we have given the couple time to discuss the issue and get back to us." The investigation unveiled a startling motive behind the attack. "During our inquiry, we learned that Kiran couldn't buy her a gift a day before their wedding anniversary due to his grandfather's death. She was disturbed as it was the first time he hadn't given her a gift," the officer explained.

Shedding light on Kiran's perspective, the officer added, "Kiran told us his wife was disturbed over some personal issues, and he wanted her to undergo counseling." The incident has highlighted the importance of open communication and conflict resolution within relationships, as well as the need for mental health support when personal issues arise.
