Karnataka News: In a devastating incident in Kengeri, Bengaluru, a 30-year-old woman named Sandhya lost her life after being struck by a speeding Benz driven by a 20-year-old man, Dhanush. The tragic accident occurred on Saturday evening as Sandhya attempted to cross the road. Preliminary investigations revealed that Dhanush was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.

A Deadly Collision

The accident unfolded when Dhanush, who had reportedly consumed alcohol beyond permissible limits, lost control of his vehicle. Eyewitnesses claim that after the collision, he attempted to flee the scene. However, bystanders quickly intervened, detaining him and allegedly assaulting him before he was handed over to the police. The Kengeri traffic police arrested Dhanush and subsequently remanded him to 14 days in judicial custody. He now faces serious charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

"We have apprehended the accused immediately, and he has been sent to judicial custody," stated the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Traffic West, confirming the swift action taken by law enforcement following the tragic incident.

On the day of the incident, Dhanush took the vehicle to a mall near Yeshwanthpur, where he consumed drinks with a friend. Following their outing, the two decided to embark on a long drive towards Mysuru Road, which ultimately led to the tragic accident.

Another Life Lost in a Hit-and-Run

The weekend was marked by another fatal incident in Bengaluru. A 26-year-old delivery boy, on his way to pick up his wife from KG Nagar, was killed when a speeding car rammed into his motorcycle. This horrific event occurred at approximately 10:20 PM on MV Seetharamaiah Road in Gavipura. The surge of reckless driving incidents has raised concerns about road safety in the city.
