New Delhi: Bengaluru police apprehended Manoj, a 23-year-old employee of Third Wave Coffee on BEL Road, after a woman patron discovered a covert camera in the coffee shop's restroom. The incident came to light when the woman took to Instagram to share her disturbing find, revealing that a phone had been secretly recording video for approximately two hours, cleverly concealed in a dustbin bag with a hole to expose the camera lens and set to flight mode to avoid detection. The phone was traced back to Manoj, leading to his swift arrest and subsequent legal action.

In the aftermath of the disturbing incident at their BEL Road outlet in Bengaluru, Third Wave Coffee issued a statement, as replied to the post on X, expressing profound regret and emphasizing that such egregious actions are utterly intolerable, while also assuring swift action to address the situation, including the immediate termination of the perpetrator and a renewed commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of their customers.
We regret the unfortunate incident at our BEL Road outlet in Bengaluru and want to emphasize that such actions are absolutely unacceptable at Third Wave Coffee. We acted swiftly to address the situation by immediately terminating the person & ensuring the safety of our customers.

Meanwhile, the Sadashivanagar police, who apprehended the accused, Manoj, revealed that a formal case has been registered under Section 77 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, about the unauthorized capture and dissemination of private images of a woman, as well as relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act, following the receipt of a formal complaint.
