In a tragic turn, a teenage girl died after allegedly jumping from the eleventh floor of high rise building in Bengaluru’s Bellandur area on Tuesday morning.

The girl has been identified as Jessica who is a 15-year-old girl studying in Class 10. Her father is a software engineer while her mother is a teacher at a private school. They all originally hailed from Tamil Nadu and had moved to Bengaluru only a few years ago, the police said.

The family had been living on the 11th floor of the Klassik Landmark apartment in Bellandur for the last two years. It is also learned that Jessica was not attending school properly in the last few months with a total attendance of only six days in the last three months.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Girish S said that the reason behind the girl’s extreme step is not yet known. “Her father is a software engineer and mother a teacher at a private school. The girl went to school in the morning and returned home. The teacher called her mother and informed that she had not attended classes”, he said.

It was when no one was at home that Jessica went to the top floor of her building and allegedly jumped from there which killed her.

“Preliminary information is that she was not attending classes and would return from school. The Bellandur police have registered a case and taken up further investigation”, the DCP added.
