A tragic incident unfolded in Almoras Danya police station area, where a 62-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her son over a petty dispute about money for beedis. Upon reaching the scene, authorities discovered the body of Gopuli Devi, wife of 65-year-old Leeladhar Bhatt. The body was immediately sent for postmortem, and Leeladhar alleged that their 35-year-old son, Gokul Bhatt, was responsible for the murder.According to Leeladhar, Gokul had been indulging in substance abuse and violent behaviour since childhood. On Friday evening, an argument escalated when Gokul demanded money for beedis, leading to a fatal attack on his mother.Police action and confessionThe police filed a case and launched a manhunt for the accused. By Sunday morning, Gokul was apprehended on the Danya-Almora road. Senior Superintendent of Police Devendra Pincha confirmed that Gokul confessed to the crime, stating he was intoxicated during the incident.
