New Delhi: In a chilling development, the Bareilly police recreated the crime scenes of the notorious serial killer Kuldeep Gangwar, who confessed to the murders of six women. On Saturday, the 35-year-old suspect reenacted his heinous acts, demonstrating to the authorities exactly how he carried out these brutal killings. The reconstructions were intended to shed light on the chilling modus operandi of a man who terrorized the women of Bareilly for over a year.

Who is Kuldeep Gangwar?

Kuldeep Gangwar, a resident of Nawabganj's Bakarganj Samua village, is described as having a light beard and standing about five feet tall. When questioned, he exhibited a strange head shake, a detail noted during the police's crime scene reconstruction. According to the police, his mannerisms during these reenactments were eerily similar to those reported by witnesses. He even mimicked his grim satisfaction by smiling as he demonstrated how he strangled his victims.

Understanding the motive

Kuldeep revealed a disturbing motive for his crimes during police interrogations. He stated that he killed women who refused his advances, explaining that he could not bear rejection. His animosity towards women, particularly those of his stepmother’s age, was rooted in his troubled childhood. Kuldeep's father had remarried while his mother was still alive, and Kuldeep blamed his stepmother for his mother's suffering. This deep-seated resentment fueled his violence against women who reminded him of her.

Arrest of Kuldeep Gangwar

The investigation that led to Kuldeep's capture involved the dedication of 22 police teams and the creation of three suspect sketches. Kuldeep's likeness in one of these sketches ultimately led to his arrest. The police relied on local tips and analyzed Google Maps data to track his movements. On August 6, after releasing these sketches to the public, they arrested Kuldeep based on information from the community. Despite the ongoing investigation, Kuldeep had been living openly, often visiting the villages where he committed his crimes.

Investigation continues

The authorities continue to unravel the full extent of Kuldeep’s crimes. His methodical approach and the mementos he kept underscore the premeditated nature of his actions. The police, determined to secure justice for the victims and their families, are focusing on ensuring Kuldeep faces the full weight of the law. As the investigation progresses, the community of Bareilly remains vigilant, seeking closure and safety from the horrors Kuldeep inflicted.
