Crime News: In a village under Badosarai police station in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki, the murder mystery of a young man, which happened five days ago has been solved. The shocking truth was that the murderer was none other than the victim’s own brother. He shot his brother in the head, intending to claim the Rs 50 lakh insurance money. Moreover, he had an illicit relationship with his brother’s wife. The police arrested the accused brother and sent him to jail.

The victim, Arvind, was a sanitation worker in the development block of Sirauli Gauspur. In the early morning of July 6, while Arvind was sleeping in a newly constructed house, he was shot dead. His younger brother, Virendra Kumar Verma, who was also in the same room, claimed that the bullet was fired through the window. Arvind’s elder brother, Ashok Kumar, reported the murder to the police.

Police make breakthrough

The police set up four teams to investigate the murder, and a forensic team was also involved. Initial investigations revealed inconsistencies in Virendra's story. The forensic analysis showed that the bullet's trajectory did not match the angle from the window. It became evident that the shot was fired from inside the room, which was locked from the inside. It made Virendra the prime suspect.

After intense questioning, Virendra initially misled the police but eventually confessed to the murder. He revealed where he had hidden the pistol, which the police subsequently recovered.

Motive behind murder

During interrogation, it was revealed that Virendra worked in the property business and had huge debts. He was constantly harassed by creditors, and even his brother Arvind had helped him repay some debts. Moreover, Virendra had an illicit relationship with Arvind’s wife and knew that Arvind had taken out four insurance policies worth Rs 50 lakh.

Virendra believed that if Arvind died, his wife would receive the insurance money, which could clear his debts. Moreover, Arvind’s wife would get a job in his place, further easing Virendra’s troubles. This greed and desperation led him to commit the heinous crime of killing his own brother.
