Bank Holidays December 2023: Banks to remain closed for 18 Days. Deets inside

Some of the bank holidays are restricted to certain regions, while other are applicable across the country.

In December, the banks in India will remain closed for 18 days, and this includes all Sundays and fourth Saturday. The list of the holidays has been shared by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). However, some of the bank holidays are restricted to certain regions, while other are applicable across the country.

As per the notification of RBI, the bank holidays are segregated into three categories, including Holidays Under Negotiable Instruments Act, Banks' Closing of Accounts, and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday. 

In addition to this, All India Bank Employees Association (AIEBA) has planned for a six-day strike.

Here’s the list of state-wise bank holidays:

  • December 1, 2023, Friday: State Inauguration Day (Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland).
  • December 3, 2023, Sunday: Weekend (All States)
  • December 4, 2023, Monday: St. Francis Xavier Festival (Goa).
  • December 9, 2023, Saturday: Second Saturday of the Month (All States).
  • December 10, 2023, Sunday: Weekend (All States).
  • December 12, 2023, Tuesday: Pa-Togan Nengminja Sangma (Meghalaya).
  • December 13, 2023, Wednesday:  Lasoong/Namsoong (Sikkim).
  • December 14, Thursday: Lasoong/Namsoong (Sikkim).
  • December 17, 2023, Sunday: Weekend (All States).
  • December 18, 2023, Monday: Death Anniversary of U SoSo Tham (Meghalaya).
  • December 19, 2023, Tuesday: Goa Liberation Day (Goa).
  • December 23, 2023, Saturday: Fourth Saturday of the Month (All States).
  • December 24, 2023, Sunday: Weekend (All States).
  • December 25, 2023, Monday: Christmas (All States).
  • December 26, 2023, Tuesday: Christmas (Mizoram, Nagaland and Meghalaya).
  • December 27, 2023, Wednesday: Christmas (Nagaland).
  • December 30, 2023, Saturday: U Kiang Nangbah (Meghalaya).
  • December 31, 2023, Sunday: Weekend (All States).
