Unexpectedly Bengaluru has received record-breaking rainfall on Sunday, crushing its 133-year-old record, making it the wettest day of June. The city has received around 111mm of rainfall which has caused widespread disruptions and disturbances. Over the past two days, Bengaluru has received 140.7 mm of rain, surpassing the average of 110.3 mm of rainfall in June, making it the highest-ever rainfall in a single day in June.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a 'yellow' alert for the city. They have made predictions of a cloudy sky with frequent spells of rain or thunderstorms until June 5. Also, they have added that additional rainfall is expected on June 8 and 9. This drastic change in weather is probably a result of the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon in Karnataka.
