New Delhi: Disagreement erupted in Mira Road's JP North Celeste Society on Saturday, June 15, casting a shadow over the upcoming Bakri Eid celebrations. According to media reports, members of the Bajrang Dal allegedly created a disturbance outside the society over lambs brought in by Muslim families for sacrificial rituals.
A video circulating online captures the tense situation. It shows two groups engaged in a heated verbal confrontation. The footage reveals a man aggressively approaching the individual recording the incident, only to be held back by others. Another individual is seen objecting to the video documentation.

Whether the disagreement was resolved amicably or required police intervention remains unclear. However, such incidents surrounding religious festivals can dampen the celebratory spirit and create unnecessary social discord.
Echoes of Last Year's Unrest:
This is not the first time tensions have flared in Mira Road during Eid. A similar situation unfolded last year at the JP Infra society. A family's decision to acquire goats for sacrifice sparked unrest among other residents, leading to a significant commotion and rising tensions.
In response, the society management issued a notice prohibiting the slaughter of goats within the premises. The notice appealed for mutual respect and a peaceful resolution, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a harmonious living environment.
Legal Action Taken Previously:
Following last year's incident, local police filed cases against 11 individuals after a couple brought goats for sacrifice into a private housing colony. The arrival of the livestock triggered protests from residents and a Hindu organization. The situation escalated further when an official notice banned the slaughter of the animals within the colony.
Moving Forward:
These events highlight the need for open communication and understanding between communities, particularly during religious festivals. Finding common ground and respecting each other's practices can help ensure peaceful coexistence and a more inclusive environment for all residents.
