New Delhi: In a heartbreaking incident in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, three girls aged between 13 and 16 ended their lives by jumping in front of a train. The tragedy is believed to be driven by deep-seated superstitions.

The girls left behind a chilling suicide note stating, "The body is mortal and Baba has called us." They took their own lives on May 24 by jumping in front of an oncoming train.

Who are the deceased girls?

The victims have been identified as 13-year-old Maya, 14-year-old Gauri, and 16-year-old Mahi, all from Yogiya Math in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. Their young lives were cut short by a shared belief in a call from a spiritual figure.

Mahi's disturbing letter

A letter found at Mahi's house read, "Baba has called us, we must go to make everything right. We are heading to the Himalayas from Lalganj. Do not search for us; if you do, we will consume poison and die."

Close friends united in death

The three girls, who had formed a close friendship, left their homes on May 13. One of them left a note declaring her intention to meet God.

Influenced by religious discourses

The girls had reportedly met just six months prior and bonded over listening to religious sermons and motivational talks on YouTube. Mahi also claimed to have communicated with her deceased mother.

Promise to return after three months

In their notes, the girls warned their families not to search for them, stating they were going to God's abode and would return in three months.

Letters found at the scene

Police recovered letters from the homes of Gauri and Maya. Maya's letter echoed the belief that Baba had summoned them to the Himalayas, promising that all their troubles would vanish. Gauri’s letter contained an apology, hinting at deep emotional turmoil, with the words, "Nothing happens with sorry, you do not die, I wish I die before you, sorry my wife."
