Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the B20 Summit on Sunday where he mentioned that India has an important role to play in an efficient global supply chain and that a Consumer Day should be celebrated. On Sunday, August 27, he suggested that a day in a year be observed as ‘international consumer care day’.

PM Modi also said that with the success of Chandrayaan-3’s safe moon landing on 23 August, India has already started its festive season.

He also stressed the importance of ‘consumer care’ and while addressing the Summit at the national capital asked “Can we talk about consumer care? It will send a positive signal and will resolve Consumer rights issues. We need to boost trust between businesses and consumers”.

“You (business leaders) have come to India at the time where there is a celebration mode in the country. This time the festive season in India started from 23rd August. This celebration is Chandrayaan-3’s landing on the surface of the moon. ISRO played an important role in the success of India’s lunar mission. Along with this India’s industries have also played an important role…”, the prime minister said at the B20 summit.

Modi on importance of cryptocurrencies

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of cryptocurrencies at the B20 Summit and said that a global framework is required for cryptocurrency. “There is a challenge associated with cryptocurrencies. In this matter maximum integrated approach is needed. I think there is a need for preparing a global framework which should take care of the interests of all stakeholders,” the prime minister said.

He had a similar approach to AI and emphasised the importance of using artificial intelligence in an ethical manner as technology disruption is taking place at a rapid rate.

India, face of the digital world says Modi

Modi in his speech on Sunday said that India has a vision of inclusiveness and hence African countries have also been invited to the G20 Summit for their permanent membership. Moreover, he also brought to notice about India’s large youth population and that India has become the face of the digital world.

“India has the largest youth talent. India has become the face of the digital revolution at the time of Industry 4.0…Business can transform potential into prosperity, obstacles into opportunities & aspiration into achievements. Whether they are small or big, global or local business can ensure progress for everyone”, the prime minister added.

He also spoke on India’s role in an efficient global supply chain and said, “The world can never look at the global supply chain in the same way. Can a supply chain be called efficient when it gets disrupted during the time of need? India is the solution to this problem”.

PM Modi further mentioned about India’s approach to green energy in recent years and said, “In India, we are focusing on green energy. We aim to replicate the success of solar energy in the green hydrogen sector. India wants to take all countries together, and it is reflected in the form of International Solar Alliance.”
