Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi: The most anticipated and much awaited Ayushman Bharat Scheme will kick off within a few days from now. The Delhities will soon start receiving the benefits of the scheme introduced by the Central Government. The scheme will provide medical benefits to lakhs of people living in the National Capital who have beeb deprived of the medical schemes for long due to the expensive healthcare in private hospitals. The Government will sign a memorandum of understanding with the National Health Authority of India on March 18th to begin the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Yojana.
Delhi will become the 35th state/union territory
West Bengal remains the only state that has not adopted the scheme. Sources said the MoU will be signed on March 18 in the presence of Union Health Minister J P Nadda and five families will be given AB-PMJAY cards, making them beneficiaries of the scheme.

Implementing this scheme was one of the key promises of the BJP for the Delhi assembly election. The previous AAP government had formulated its own plan and refused to implement AB-PMJAY. The BJP won the Delhi assembly election on February 5 and returned to power in the city after more than 26 years.
55 crore beneficiaries benefited
The plan will provide Rs 5 Lakh Health plan to every family for hospitalization. The scheme will benefit over 55 crore beneficiaries which includes the 40% of India's population which is below poverty line. The Central Government had enlarged the AB-PMJay which gives free treatment and benefits of over Rs 5 lakhs to senior citizens in the age group of 70 years and above.
