Vijay's TVK opposes One Nation, One Election bill: Tamil actor and politician Vijay, leading his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), announced key resolutions against policies including 'One Nation, One Election,' the Waqf Amendment Bill, and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) at the party's state conference in Chennai.

The party’s executive committee meeting, chaired by Vijay, took a strong stand against the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu, asserting that the law and order situation has worsened under the current administration. "We demand that education remains under state jurisdiction according to the State Autonomy policy. If the Union Government moves education to the State List, the state government would have the power to abolish NEET independently," the resolution stated.

TVK attacks BJP, DMK

In its resolution, TVK criticized both the BJP-led Union Government and the DMK, accusing them of misleading the people with false promises. The resolution specifically called 'One Nation, One Election' an anti-federal policy that threatens democratic principles. TVK also demanded the immediate withdrawal of the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024, which is currently under review by a Joint Parliamentary Committee, branding it as an "attack on federalism."

Vijay underscored his party’s foundational values, emphasizing that TVK is guided by secular and social justice principles inspired by leaders like EVR Periyar and K Kamaraj. Speaking to his followers, Vijay, popularly known as ‘Thalapathy’ (leader), critiqued the DMK’s governance model. "Certain groups continue the same narrative, applying labels to anyone entering politics. They’re deceiving the public and engaging in covert dealings under the guise of a Dravidian Model that ultimately runs counter to the people’s interests," he stated.
