Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP legislator Atishi has written a letter to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, requesting a meeting to discuss the implementation of the Women’s Honor Fund Scheme. Atishi cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s electoral promise made during a rally in Dwarka on January 31, 2025, where he assured Delhi’s women a financial aid of ₹2,500 per month. However, despite forming the government, this scheme was not approved in the first cabinet meeting.

Delay in implementation raises concerns

In her letter, Atishi expressed disappointment, stating, “The new government’s first cabinet meeting was held on February 20, yet there was no approval for the ₹2,500 monthly aid for women. Lakhs of women in Delhi had placed their trust in Modi Ji’s guarantee, but now they feel deceived.” She further urged the Chief Minister to allocate time on February 23, 2025, for a delegation of AAP legislators to discuss and expedite the implementation of the scheme.

Atishi slams BJP over unfulfilled promise

Criticizing the BJP-led government, Atishi remarked, “From day one, the Delhi government has started betraying the public. Before the elections, PM Modi and BJP leaders assured that this scheme would be approved in the first cabinet meeting, but that commitment has not been honored. Despite having a woman Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta has failed to uphold her promise to Delhi’s women.”

Political tensions escalate

The Aam Aadmi Party has accused the BJP of misleading the public over this scheme. Meanwhile, the BJP has yet to issue a clear response on the matter. It remains to be seen how the Rekha Gupta-led government will address this issue and whether the ₹2,500 monthly aid for women will be fulfilled or remain an unfulfilled electoral promise.
