In a significant political development, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi is set to take oath as the Chief Minister of the National Capital Territory of Delhi today. The swearing-in ceremony, along with the induction of her council of ministers, will be held at Raj Niwas this afternoon, according to official reports.

President Droupadi Murmu appointed Atishi as Delhi’s new Chief Minister following the resignation of AAP’s national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal. While Kejriwal’s resignation has been accepted, the President stated that he will continue to serve as the Chief Minister until Atishi is formally sworn in.

"The President is pleased to accept the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, along with his Council of Ministers, with immediate effect. He will, however, continue to act as the Chief Minister until the new Chief Minister is sworn in," read the official statement from the President’s office.

Alongside Atishi, several ministers, including Saurabh Bharadwaj, Gopal Rai, and Kailash Gahlot, will also take their oaths today. "The President has been pleased to appoint, on the advice of the Chief Minister, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Imran Hussain, and Mukesh Ahlawat, as ministers in the National Capital Territory of Delhi," the statement further clarified.

On Thursday, the AAP officially announced Atishi's appointment, setting the stage for today’s swearing-in. Expressing mixed emotions about the leadership change, Atishi acknowledged the trust placed in her by the outgoing Chief Minister. "I want to thank Arvind Kejriwal for the responsibility he has entrusted me with. This can only happen in AAP, where a first-time politician can rise to the position of Chief Minister," she remarked.

At 43, Atishi will become the third woman to hold the office of Chief Minister in Delhi, following in the footsteps of Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit. Known for her key contributions to improving education in Delhi, Atishi has been a prominent figure in AAP’s leadership. She currently represents the Kalkaji constituency and holds multiple portfolios in the Delhi government.
