Atishi’s Explosive Claim: Manish Gupta, CM Rekha’s Husband, Allegedly Controls Delhi

Atishi Vs BJP: A new political controversy erupted in Delhi when opposition leader Atishi alleged that Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's husband was present in an official meeting of senior officials of Delhi Municipal Corporation, Delhi Jal Board, Public Works Department and Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board. BJP has also retaliated on this. BJP's Delhi unit president Virendra Sachdeva, while responding to this, accused Atishi of making derogatory remarks.

Sachdeva defended Rekha Gupta by writing on X that she has reached this position through hard work and determination and it is quite normal for family members to support public representatives. Atishi shared a photo on X and alleged that the Delhi government is being run by the Chief Minister's husband. She compared this situation to the situation often seen in villages.

Atishi said in her post, look at this picture carefully. The person who is meeting with the officials of MCD, DJB, PWD and DUSIB is the husband of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. She said, earlier we used to hear that if a woman sarpanch is elected in the village, then all the government work is handled by her husband... but this must have happened for the first time in the history of the country that a woman became the Chief Minister and all the government work is being handled by her husband.

In response, Sachdeva said, "It is surprising that despite being a woman herself, Atishi is insulting a woman leader. Rekha Gupta has travelled from DUSU students' union secretary to the post of Delhi Chief Minister through her own hard work with the resolve to serve the people. Her husband supporting her is neither illegal nor unethical."

According to the affidavit submitted by Rekha Gupta to the Election Commission, Manish Gupta, a businessman by profession, has a firm named Nikunj Enterprises. Manish Gupta is also an agency associate at Kotak Life Insurance. After becoming the Chief Minister of Delhi earlier this year, Rekha Gupta credited her husband for her success and said that her husband has supported her throughout her political journey. When asked about her husband's role in her success, she said, "Absolutely, yes. He has done a lot for me."
