Assembly Elections 2023: Voting in Mizoram, Chhattisgarh begin

The voting of the Mizoram, Chhattisgarh Assembly election has commenced at 7 am onwards.

The wait is over as the first phase of the Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2023 will be held today. Twenty of the 90 assembly seats will be voting in the first phase. Along with the 20 Chhattisgarh Assembly seats, the 40-member Mizoram assembly will also go to polls on Tuesday. The voting has begun from 7 am onwards.

Security arrangement in Mizoram

As the citizens are ready to cast their votes, the security has been tightening across Mizoram and along international borders with Bangladesh and Myanmar. At least 3,000 policemen and 5,400 personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed for the polls.

Moreover, Chief Electoral Officer Madhup Vyas appealed to the voters to come out in large numbers for a record highest turnout in this election.

Security arrangement in Chhattisgarh 

Meanwhile, all arrangements have also been made for the first phase of assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. The fate of 223 candidates will be decided in the 1st phase only. The majority of the 20 Assembly constituencies, where voting is scheduled for today, are affected by Maoist activities. Extensive security measures are in place in these constituencies to ensure a peaceful and fair election process.

 When 2nd phase of Chhattisgarh elections will be held?

The second phase for the Chhattisgarh assembly polls will be held on 17 November for the remaining 70 seats.

Who are the key players of Chhattisgarh elections Phase 1? 

Former chief minister and BJP leader Dr. Raman Singh, Bhawna Bohra, Lata Usendi and Gautam, Congress's Mohammad Akbar, Savitri Manoj Mandavi, former state unit chief Mohan Markam are among the key players in the first phase of Chhattisgarh election.

Mizoram Assembly elections

The northeastern state Mizoram assembly elections will also take place today (November 07). A total of 174 candidates are in the fray for the Mizoram polls.

In 2018, Mizo National Front came into power by winning 26 seats out of 40. The Congress secured five seats and the BJP won only one seat.

The results will be declared on December 3.
