In a shocking incident in Madhya Pradesh's Betul district, a tribal man endured brutal assault and humiliation at the hands of a group allegedly affiliated with the Bajrang Dal. The victim, identified as Raju Uikey, was subjected to physical violence and casteist slurs, highlighting the persisting issue of discrimination and violence against tribal communities.
The harrowing incident unfolded near Subhash School in Betul, where Raju Uikey was accosted by a group led by Chanchal Rajput, purportedly a member of the Bajrang Dal. The assailants subjected Raju to verbal abuse and physical assault, forcing him into a demeaning pose known as "murga." Despite Raju's pleas and visible injuries, the attackers continued their brutal assault, leaving him battered and humiliated.
The disturbing footage of the incident, captured on camera, sparked widespread outrage and condemnation. State Congress President Jitu Patwari brought the incident to public attention by sharing the video on social media platforms. His actions prompted swift response from the authorities, leading to the filing of an FIR against Chanchal Rajput and three other accused individuals.
Jitu Patwari, expressing his outrage, highlighted the glaring contradiction between Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rhetoric on tribal empowerment and the harsh reality of tribal discrimination in the state. He denounced the incident as a betrayal of tribal dignity and called for accountability from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Betul Superintendent Of Police (SP) Siddharth Chaudhary confirmed the incident and assured that a thorough investigation is underway to apprehend the perpetrators. The police have launched a comprehensive probe to track down the accused individuals and ensure that justice is served.
The assault on Raju Uikey underscores the deep-rooted issues of casteism and discrimination that continue to plague Indian society. It serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for systemic reforms and social awareness to combat such atrocities and uphold the dignity and rights of all individuals, regardless of their background or ethnicity.
