A distressing incident unfolded at MP Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Rajdeep Roy’s residence at Silchar, Assam where the body of a lifeless ten-year-old boy was found hanging with a cloth around his neck on Saturday evening.

The boy whose identity has not been revealed was a class 5 student and had been staying at the MP’s house at Radha Madhab road in Silchar town with his mother and elder sister for a few years, his family said. His mother was working as a domestic help at Roy’s residence for two and a half years.

The body of the minor has been sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem and further investigation will be conducted on the incident.

When the BJP MP received the horrific news he rushed to his house and found the door to be locked from inside. Upon the arrival of the police, they broke open the door only to find the boy unconscious.

BJP MP Roy’s comment

Roy mentioned that he was initially not aware of the details. He also said “He was taken to a nearby hospital and the doctors tried to save him but it was too late. He was declared dead by the doctors,” Roy told the media.

Police said that the minor was angry at his mom for not giving him a mobile phone to play video games which might be one of the prime reasons behind the gruesome step taken. Speaking to the police Roys said he was not at home during the incident and was at the party office.

“The family was residing on the first floor of the building. The young boy was well-mannered, and I had personally enrolled him in school. His mother is a responsible parent. She mentioned that they had shared a meal together. As the mother and daughter were leaving, the boy requested his mother’s phone, as they were stepping out. Upon their return half an hour later, they found the door locked from the inside, ” said the BJP MP.

He said “ I spoke to the Silchar Superintendent of Police and informed him that this appears to be a case of alleged suicide. At the time of the incident, I was not at home; I was at the party office. According to police protocol and guidelines, they will conduct the investigation.”

Man found dead in earlier incident

Moreover, a few days ago a man was found dead in mysterious circumstances by the party workers in the VIP room of the BJP office in Silchar. The lifeless body was naked and lying on top of a bed when it was discovered.

When the party workers discovered the body, district party president Bimalendu Roy, alerted the local police authorities about the incident.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Sudangshu Das, 48. He lived on the premises of the office for an entire year.
