Lokesh Sharma, former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of Ashok Gehlot made several allegations against the former Chief Minister of Rajasthan. When asked about the tapping issue, he alleged that Gehlot had given him audio clips of cabinet ministers and asked him to release them in the media.

Big claim in phone tapping case

At a press conference in Jaipur, Lokesh Sharma said, “Despite being interrogated several times for 8-9 hours by the Crime Branch in Delhi in the phone tapping case, I was silent till now. But the person who was responsible for phone tapping.” This incident left me in limbo and I had to bear the brunt of it.” Sharma claimed that Gehlot gave him phone recordings of Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and others.

Pen drive contained the recordings

Lokesh Sharma said that “Earlier, I had said that I had got the recording through social media, but it was not true. Ashok Gehlot gave me the recording of Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Congress leader Bhanwarlal Sharma and Sanjay Jain in a pen drive. The audio clip was given and I was asked to release it in the media.”

He further claimed that the phones of Sachin Pilot and people close to him were tapped when it was revealed that they were going to the Congress high command regarding the problems of Ashok Gehlot's leadership.

According to Lokesh Sharma, “It is wrong to say that BJP was behind the fall of Ashok Gehlot's government. Sachin Pilot wanted to convey his feelings about the state leadership to the party high command. When he and people close to him decided to go to meet the high command, their phones were put on tapping.”

During the press conference, Sharma played a purported recording of his conversation with Ashok Gehlot, where he (Gehlot) asked him about the phone recording. In the alleged recording, Gehlot asked Sharma whether the phone through which the recording was sent to the media had been destroyed or not, and Sharma told Ashok Gehlot that he had told the media that he had received the audio through social media.

Sharma also claimed that Gehlot was behind the attempt to obstruct the chances of Sachin Pilot becoming the chief minister of Rajasthan.
