Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal arrest: Since Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal skipped his third summon by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday, there were speculations that he might be apprehended by the probe agency. Now, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) itself has alleged its party supremo is likely to be arrested today after the ED conducts raids at his home.

Is Arvind Kejriwal to be arrested today?

Party leaders Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj and Jasmine Shah made the dramatic claims on Wednesday night following Kejriwal skipping his third ED summons in the alleged Delhi excise policy case.

"News coming in that ED will raid Kejriwal's residence tomorrow morning. Arrest likely," Atishi tweeted yesterday on X.

Speaking to the media, she questioned the ED's intentions in issuing summons with Lok Sabha polls approaching. "Kejriwal is ready to answer all questions. But three summons have been sent in two weeks without written questions," Atishi said.

Similar tweets were posted by Bharadwaj and Shah about imminent raids and arrests.

AAP to hold party meet at headquarters

Amidst the arrest fears, AAP leaders converged at party headquarters while security was enhanced at Kejriwal's home.

Kejriwal was summoned by the ED on Wednesday for questioning in the controversial money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy case. He skipped it and sent a response, stating his willingness to cooperate but calling the notice "illegal."

What does AAP say on ED summon?

AAP alleged the probe agency wants to arrest Kejriwal and prevent his electioneering. It claimed the government prosecutes opposition leaders while sparing the corrupt.

This was Kejriwal's third skipped summons after earlier ones on November 2 and December 21 were termed politically motivated.

Since the summons began, AAP has insisted Kejriwal faces arrest. The 'Main Bhi Kejriwal' campaign sought public opinion on whether he should resign or govern from jail if arrested.

Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and AAP's Sanjay Singh are already jailed in this controversial case.

The latest claims of imminent arrest and raids aim to project Arvind Kejriwal as a victim of political vendetta. However, central agencies assert the investigations are impartial and driven solely by evidence.

BJP attacks Delhi CM

Meanwhile, the BJP has hit out at the Delhi chief minister over skipping the ED summons. BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia alleged that Arvind Kejriwal was "shaking in fear" and not appearing before the ED as he was the "kingpin" of the alleged Delhi excise policy case.

"Outright dishonest and sinister Arvind Kejriwal is shaking in fear and making one after another lame excuse to skip ED summons," he said at a press conference on Wednesday.

"It won't be wrong to say that Kejriwal is afraid today because he knows that his arrest is imminent, he is aware that he is the kingpin and has no answers (to ED's questions). That's why he is trying to evade the process of law," he added.

BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said on Wednesday, "Today, once again, Arvind Kejriwal has skipped the third summons. This shows that there is something to hide, and that is why he is absconding like a criminal."
