Arvind Kejriwal skips 3rd summon by ED, BJP alleges ‘There is something to hide…’ 

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has again skipped another summons by the Enforcement Directorate today. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief was summoned by the probe agency on January 3 for questioning in connection with the controversial Delhi excise police case linked to money laundering.

In a response to the ED summons, the chief minister said that he was ready to cooperate with the probe, however, termed the police ‘illegal.’

Meanwhile, AAP has alleged that the probe agency intended to arrest Arvind Kejriwal and wanted to prevent him for the election campaigning for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Hitting out at the Delhi chief minister’s skipping the ED summons, BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla shared a video message on X, saying, “Today, once again Arvind Kejriwal has skipped the third summon. This shows that there is something to hide, and that is why he is absconding like a criminal. Courts have not given bail to Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, and the courts have established that there is a money trail, despite all this they are playing the same victim card.”

On Tuesday, the AAP said that it would act according to the law over the Enforcement Directorate's summons to Kejriwal, its Chief National Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said.

When asked if Kejriwal would appear before the ED on the January 3 summons, AAP’s spokesperson, Priyanka Kakkar said, "Our legal team will be better equipped to answer this question. We will act as per the law."

Notably, this has been the third notice to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal after he refused to appear before the ED on two earlier summons for November 2 and December 21.

He skipped the ED's earlier summonses, calling those "illegal" and "politically motivated."
