Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has expressed his willingness to participate in the investigations conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and cooperate with the federal agency.

However, he has taken legal recourse by moving the Delhi High Court to appeal for protection against any coercive action that might be taken against him, stated Delhi Minister Atishi on Thursday.

The ED has summoned Kejriwal for the ninth time on Thursday regarding alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the 2021-22 Delhi excise policy. Atishi, in a video message, criticised the ED, claiming it is not an impartial investigative body but rather a political tool of the BJP.

Atishi argued that the ED's repeated summoning of Kejriwal is motivated by a desire to arrest him and disrupt his election campaign. She highlighted the need for clarity from the ED, urging the agency to declare in court that it will not arrest Kejriwal if its sole objective is genuine investigation.

In response to the ongoing summons, Kejriwal filed a fresh plea in the Delhi High Court seeking protection from any coercive actions by the ED in connection with the excise policy case. He has previously refused to appear before the federal agency, denouncing the summons as illegal and politically motivated.

Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, however, accused Kejriwal of evading investigation and suggested his involvement in the liquor policy case. Sachdeva criticized Kejriwal's repeated absence from ED summons, alleging that it indicates guilt and evasiveness on his part.
