New Delhi: In response to the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has affirmed that Kejriwal will continue to serve as the Chief Minister, even while being detained.

Meanwhile, in a tweet AAP miinster Atishi Marlena wrote that the Aam Aadmi Party has moved a quotation quashing the arrest of the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal the financial watchdog Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Arvind Kejriwal to continue as chief minister

Atishi, a prominent member of AAP and currently serving as Kejriwal's deputy, emphasized that Arvind Kejriwal remains and will continue to function as the Chief Minister of Delhi despite his arrest. She reiterated the party's stance that Kejriwal is entitled to discharge his duties from jail if necessary, emphasizing that he has not been convicted of any wrongdoing.

Denouncing the arrest as political conspiracy

Describing the arrest as a "political conspiracy," Atishi expressed dismay over the situation, highlighting the lack of tangible outcomes despite extensive investigations involving over 500 officers spanning two years.

Historic arrest of a sitting chief minister

Arvind Kejriwal's arrest is unprecedented as he becomes the first sitting Chief Minister to face such action by law enforcement agencies. The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged liquor scam, implicating Kejriwal as the fourth AAP leader to be arrested in connection with the case, following Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and Vijay Nair.

Enforcement Directorate's extended interrogation

Currently, the Enforcement Directorate is conducting an interrogation of Chief Minister Kejriwal concerning the liquor policy case. The agency's swift action following the Delhi High Court's decision underscores the gravity of the situation, prompting AAP to seek urgent intervention from the Supreme Court to address Kejriwal's predicament.

AAP's allegations and response

Reacting to the arrest, Delhi Minister Imran Hussain condemned it as unfortunate and alleged it to be a part of a broader conspiracy aimed at undermining the AAP and Arvind Kejriwal. He expressed confidence in the people of Delhi, asserting their unwavering support for Kejriwal amidst the BJP's purported actions.
