The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the high-profile liquor policy case. Kejriwal, who has been in custody since April 1, faces allegations related to irregularities in the Delhi excise policy. The Supreme Courts decision follows a similar bail granted earlier in a case investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).In granting bail, the Supreme Court imposed several conditions that Kejriwal must adhere to:Bail bond requirement: Kejriwal is required to submit a bail bond of Rs 10 lakh.Restrictions on public statements: He is prohibited from making any comments regarding the Delhi liquor policy case.Mandatory presence for trial: Kejriwal must attend all court proceedings related to the trial unless exempted by the court.Office access limitations: The Chief Minister is barred from entering the Chief Ministers office or the Delhi secretariat while on bail.Prohibition on signing official files: He is not allowed to sign any official files during this period. The charges against Arvind Kejriwal involve allegations of misconduct in the formulation of the now-defunct Delhi excise policy for 2021-22. It is claimed that Kejriwal and other leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) intentionally included loopholes in the policy to benefit from kickbacks provided by liquor lobbyists.Investigative agencies assert that the illicit funds obtained were used to finance AAPs electoral campaign in Goa.Both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are conducting a joint investigation into these allegations. Kejriwal was initially arrested by the ED on March 21, as part of the ongoing probe into the case.
