Arvind Kejriwal Arrest: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been remanded for a six-day period by the Rouse Avenue Court on Friday regarding the Delhi Excise Policy case. This development follows his withdrawal of a plea against his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) related to a liquor policy case from the Supreme Court.

The ED arrested Kejriwal on Thursday after a two-hour interrogation regarding a money laundering case associated with the now-defunct Excise Policy case. The federal agency aims to secure his remand for further interrogation in the money laundering case, which allegedly involves irregularities in the Delhi excise policy.

Reacting to the arrest, AAP leader and Delhi Minister Atishi criticized the BJP, stating, "BJP wants to contest elections from behind the ED... Is ED a part of the BJP that the party is issuing their press release." Atishi expressed concern about the impact on democracy, saying, "Today is a dark day in the history of the Democracy of the country. People of the country are seeing this murder of democracy which has been done today."

Kejriwal's arrest followed the Delhi High Court's decision not to grant interim protection to him in connection with summonses issued by the central probe agency. The ED conducted a search at Kejriwal’s residence before his arrest. With this development, Arvind Kejriwal becomes the first sitting chief minister to face such legal action.

In response to the arrest, the AAP has called for a nationwide protest against the BJP, and party leaders plan to demonstrate outside the BJP headquarters. The opposition INDIA bloc has also criticized the BJP's actions and extended support to the AAP. Atishi announced during a late-night press conference, "Congress and the INDIA alliance are with us. We will together save democracy."
