Arrogance is not good: Swati Maliwal criticizes Arvind Kejriwal over controversial defense of aide Bibhav Kumar

The statement from Swati Maliwal has come after Kejriwal defended himself in the assembly by asserting that even BJP and RSS supporters in Delhi regard him as honest and also claimed that they have fabricated cases against him and put leaders like Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain, Sanjay Singh, and Bibhav Kumar behind bars.

Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has launched a scathing attack on former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal following his remarks in the Assembly regarding Bibhav Kumar, Kejriwal's personal assistant. During the session, Kejriwal claimed that Kumar and other party leaders had been falsely implicated and imprisoned.

Taking it to her X handle, Maliwal expressed her outrage, stating, “You have crossed all limits of shamelessness, Arvind Kejriwal. The goon who assaulted me in your presence was defended by an army of the country’s most expensive lawyers while he was in jail. After his release on bail, you are calling him the biggest leader of your party and claiming he was wrongfully jailed. The Supreme Court itself has questioned who keeps such goons in their residence. If your statements do not embolden thugs like Bibhav, what will? The message is clear: you will protect them even if they commit violence again.”

Maliwal further criticized Kejriwal's leadership style, stating, “Not everyone associated with your wrongdoings is a great leader. You surround yourself with those who flatter you, which distorts your perception of reality. Every other day, you compare yourself to Maryada Purushottam Ram. This level of arrogance is unwarranted. If you cannot stand up for a woman MP in your own party, how can you advocate for the women of Delhi?”

Kejriwal's defense in the assembly

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that the statement from Maliwal has come after Kejriwal defended himself in the assembly by asserting that even BJP and RSS supporters in Delhi regard him as honest. He noted, “The BJP has jailed five of our significant leaders, but AAP remains unbroken. If two prominent BJP leaders were jailed, their party would disintegrate. They fabricated cases against me and put leaders like Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain, Sanjay Singh, and Bibhav Kumar behind bars. Yet, our party stands strong.”

What is the case all about?

The controversy stems from an FIR filed against Bibhav Kumar following Maliwal’s complaint, in which she alleged that he assaulted her during a visit to Kejriwal’s residence on May 13. Kumar was arrested on May 18 but has since been released on bail. Maliwal continues to voice her criticisms against the AAP in light of this incident.
