IIT BHU Horror: After 60 days of relentless pursuit, the police have successfully apprehended the culprits involved in the harrowing gang rape incident that sent shockwaves through IIT BHU. The assailants, who had brutally assaulted a second-year student, stripping her at gunpoint and recording the heinous act, are now in custody.

Midnight Nightmare on IIT BHU Campus

The incident unfolded on November 2, as the survivor, a second-year IIT student, was taking a late-night stroll from her new girls' hostel. In a chilling turn of events, three individuals on a Bullet bike confronted her, forcefully separated the girl from her friend, and subjected her to sexual assault.

Arrested Suspects and Recovered Evidence

The suspects, identified as Kunal Pandey, Abhishek Chauhan, and Saksham Patel, all residents of Varanasi, were apprehended in connection with the crime. The police have successfully recovered the Bullet bike used during the assault. The arrest brings a sense of justice to the IIT BHU campus, which witnessed prolonged protests demanding enhanced security.

Culprits' BJP Connection and Opposition's Attack

All the three arrsted suspects are said to be working closely with the ruling BJP and have pictures with prominent leaders of the party, including PM Modi.

Samajwadi Party leader and former CM of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav took to micro-blogging platform X to hit out at the BJP.

He wrote: "These are the new crop of BJP workers who are thriving and roaming around openly under the patronage of senior BJP leaders, whose ostensible search is going on in the 'so-called zero tolerance government'.

For information: These are the BJP workers who have received immunity from top BJP leaders, who are accused of crossing the limits of indecency with a student in Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

Question: Will the BJP leaders who play with the dignity of women continue to get a free hand?"

Survivor's Harrowing Testimony

The survivor recounted the traumatic experience, revealing that the culprits not only threatened and physically assaulted her but also filmed the appalling act. The accused forced her to strip, kissed her against her will, and recorded the incident, adding to the survivor's distress. The perpetrators even extracted the student's mobile number during the ordeal.

Legal Actions and Ongoing Investigation

The police swiftly registered a case at Lanka police station under sections 354(b) of IPC, 506, and 66 IT Act based on the student's complaint. The relentless protests on the IIT-BHU campus and subsequent public outrage prompted the police to escalate the charges, incorporating sections related to gang rape (IPC 376-D) and sexual harassment through electronic means (IPC 509).
