A week after Rajya Sabha MP for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's former personal secretary Bibhav Kumar of beating her, police announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the Swati Maliwal case.

Anjitha Chepyala, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for North Delhi, is in charge of the SIT and has been leading the probe. The SIT also consists of three Inspector-rank officers, one of them being the officer from the Civil Lines Police Station, where the matter was initially reported.

According to the police officials, the SIT will present its findings to higher officials after finishing the probe in the case.

To recreate the scene, the Delhi Police took Bibhav Kumar to the living area of Arvind Kejriwal’s house on Monday, where the whole assault incident happened. The officials collected the details about the sequence of events that took place on May 13.

According to Delhi Police officials, they also visited Bibhav Kumar's home.

According to them, the police are en route to obtain Bibhav Kumar's mobile phone data in the hopes of receiving a new lead. They are also attempting to determine whether, as claimed by Swati Maliwal, the CCTV film has been altered.

The police have already seized the CCTV DVR containing Kejriwal’s residence and they are currently attempting to recover the blank segment.
Meanwhile, the police have already taken Bibhav Kumar into five-day custody earlier on Saturday, after being presented to the Tis Hazari Court.
