Technology giant Apple has opened its highly anticipated iOS Development Lab at Galgotias University in Delhi, inaugurated on February 20th. The state-of-the-art facility aims to foster innovation and skills amongst the next generation of iOS developers in India.

A press release explained that the lab forms part of Apple's iOS Student Developer programme, a collaboration with academia and industry partners including Tata, Wipro and Infosys. Launched last September, it looks to significantly expand high-quality iOS talent.

The tie-up gives students access to the latest Apple devices like iPhones, iPads and Mac computers for development and testing purposes. Apple provides tailored learning materials, whilst Infosys shares industry best practices.

The new iOS Lab at Galgotias University boasts over 100 iMac workstations. It offers pupils the facilities and practical hands-on experience required to master iOS principles.

Apple's Senior Vice President Greg Joswiak expressed delight at the opening on social media platform Twitter, saying he was "happy to meet the next generation of iOS developers" during his visit.

University CEO Dr Dhruv Galgotia stated that the Apple partnership had proved "an inspirational and enriching experience" for students and faculty alike. He added: "The learnings from the iOS Development Centre will have far-reaching impacts beyond the lab itself, shaping teaching methods across the entire university."
