New Delhi: A dramatic incident unfolded in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur district when a crowd looted illicit liquor just moments before it was scheduled for destruction. The local police had gathered at a dumping yard on Etukuru Road to dispose of the seized alcohol, valued at Rs 50 lakh. However, before the authorities could begin the destruction, a mob rushed in and fled with the liquor bottles, creating chaos at the scene.
The police, although prepared for the demolition, were overwhelmed by the sheer number of people who stormed the site. According to reports, the officers attempted to control the crowd but were vastly outnumbered. People grabbed as many bottles as they could carry and quickly fled the area, leaving the police helpless to prevent the looting.
Typically, law enforcement destroys illicit liquor by crushing bottles under a road roller or a JCB to ensure the alcohol doesn’t re-enter the market. However, in this case, the destruction process was interrupted by opportunistic looters who made off with a significant portion of the seized liquor before it could be destroyed.

The incident has raised questions about security measures during such operations, as the police failed to prevent the looters from seizing the alcohol. The viral video of the chaotic scene has further highlighted the challenge of maintaining law and order during high-profile destruction of illegal goods.
In a separate incident, the Telangana excise department conducted a raid on a Hyderabad eatery and seized nearly 12 kg of whiskey-laced ice cream. The raid took place at a café in Jubilee Hills, where officials discovered the illicit dessert being sold openly.
The café owners had been mixing 60 ml of whiskey into each kilogram of ice cream, advertising the product on social media to attract customers. The two individuals behind the operation, Dayakar Reddy and Shobhan, were arrested as part of the raid. The seized ice cream, totaling 23 cartons, was promptly confiscated.
