National News: Another attempt by Pakistan to attack India's cyber sovereignty has failed. After the terror attack in Pahalgam and frequent ceasefire violations on the Line of Control, Pakistan is now trying unsuccessfully to challenge India's digital security. Due to the impenetrable structure of the national security network, Pakistan has now turned its attention towards welfare and educational websites, which are publicly accessible.
Cyber attackers operating under the name “IOK Hackers” or Internet of Khilafa group tried to deface websites, disrupt online services and steal personal information. However, India’s multi-layered cyber security system quickly detected these attempts and confirmed their origin from Pakistan.
According to intelligence reports, four related incidents have been reported. The websites of Army Public Schools Srinagar and APS Ranikhet were targeted through inflammatory propaganda, while APS Srinagar was also attacked by a distributed Dinel of Service (DDOS). An attempt was made to breach the database of Army Welfare Housing Organisation, while the portal of Indian Air Force Placement Organisation was also targeted at the same time. All the four websites were isolated in time and corrective action was taken. There was no damage to any sensitive or operational network.
These failed attempts expose the enemy's intent as well as its limited capabilities. The Indian Army is fully alert and committed to the security of its cyberspace, it is constantly strengthening its cyber capabilities and ensuring the digital security of soldiers and their families.
