Another 17-year-old rams speeding car into schoolgirl in Ahmedabad

In Hebatpur, Ahmedabad, a 17-year-old male operating an SUV struck and badly injured a 16-year-old girl in another terrible underage driving event.

While the nation is still reeling from the shock of the Pune Porsche accident case, in which a 17-year-old boy is accused of killing two people while operating a Porche Taycan, another such incident has occurred of similar proportions. A 17-year-old boy from Hebatpur struck a 16-year-old girl on Friday afternoon while operating an SUV in the Thaltej neighborhood of the city, seriously injuring her.

More on the mishap 

Diya Prajapati, a Class 10 student at a Thaltej school, was struck by a speeding SUV on Friday at approximately 430 p.m. while she was strolling close to her Sandipani Society home, according to sources in the city traffic police. The 17-year-old child was operating his father's Fortuner SUV after he passed his Class 10 exam just this past month. Because of his age, he does not possess a license. 

No official statement as of now 

DCP Traffic (West) Neeta Desai mentioned that N Division traffic police have filed a complaint in the case. However, she declined to provide further details, citing her busy schedule. As of late Friday night, the FIR had not been uploaded on the Gujarat Police portal, leading to speculation regarding the city traffic police's intentions.

According to a source within the city traffic police, efforts were made to locate the parents of the juvenile involved in the incident. Instead, relatives of the juvenile were summoned by the authorities. The boy has been detained by N Division traffic police pending further investigation. At present, investigators have not determined the speed at which the SUV was traveling during the incident.

Similar case

On May 19, following a visit to a bar in Pune's Koregaon Park neighborhood, a 17-year-old kid struck a motorcycle close to Landmark Society on the Kalyaninagar-Airport Road in Pune while operating a Porsche Taycan at over 200 kmph. There were two fatalities. The boy's grandfather and father were later taken into custody by Pune police in relation to the case and a suspected cover-up.
