Friday morning witnessed a major fire breaking out near the Govindaraja temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati. As per the reports, the fire broke out at a shop named Lavanya Photo Frames which is located near the temple. Immediately the fire spread all over the market.

Fire tenders have been called and the police have blocked all the routes leading to this temple.

The cause of the fire is still not known.

About Govindaraja Temple

The Govindaraja Swamy temple is one of the most significant and ancient temple in Tirupati. It was consecrated in 1130 AD by Sri Vaishnavaite, Saint Ramanujacharya.  

It is believed that Sri Govindaraja Swamy was the brother of Lord Balaji. The presiding deity of the temple is a Sayanamurthi (the Lord in a sleeping posture).
