Chandrababu Naidu takes oath as CM of Andhra Pradesh for fourth term; PM Modi attends

The TDP-led alliance secured a significant mandate in the elections, winning 164 out of 175 seats in the Assembly. TDP alone secured 135 seats, while the Jana Sena Party won all 21 seats it contested. The BJP secured eight out of 10 seats it contested, while the YSRCP, which previously held 151 seats, was reduced to just 11.

Update: Pawan Kalyan Takes Oath Under Chandrababu Naidu's Andhra Pradesh Government

Update: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu takes oath as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh for a fourth term today, June 12.


 

A 25-member Council of Ministers in Andhra Pradesh, led by N. Chandrababu Naidu, is set to be sworn in on Wednesday. Pawan Kalyan, President of the Jana Sena Party, will assume the role of the sole Deputy Chief Minister in the government led by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Oath taking ceremony today 

The list of 24 ministers, unveiled in the early hours of Wednesday, includes representatives from the Jana Sena Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with the majority belonging to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Chief Minister-designate Chandrababu Naidu forwarded the ministerial roster to Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, who will oversee the oath-taking ceremony at Kesarapalli IT Park near Gannavaram Airport, Vijayawada.

When it will start? 

Among the Council of Ministers are Nara Lokesh, son of Chandrababu Naidu and General Secretary of the TDP, as well as K. Atchannaidu, President of the TDP's Andhra Pradesh unit, and Nadendla Manohar, Chairman of the Jana Sena Party political affairs committee. At 11:27 a.m., Governor Nazeer will administer the oath of office and secrecy to 74-year-old Chandrababu Naidu, who led the NDA to a resounding victory in the recent elections.

Who all will attend? 

The swearing-in ceremony is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, other Union Ministers, leaders of NDA allies, and Chief Ministers from various states.

17 new faces in cabinet

Mr Naidu finalized his ministerial team following a late-night meeting with Amit Shah and J.P. Nadda at his residence in Amaravati. Satya Kumar Yadav will be the sole BJP MLA sworn in as a Minister. Among the three Ministers from the Jana Sena Party are Pawan Kalyan, Nadendla Manohar, and Kandula Durgesh. Mr Naidu's ministerial team comprises 17 new faces, with the remainder having previously served as Ministers. The Council of Ministers includes three women, with senior leader N. Mohammed Farook being the only Muslim member.

Various representatives 

The list of Ministers features representatives from various communities, including eight from Backward Classes, three from Scheduled Castes, and one from Scheduled Tribes. Additionally, there are four ministers each from the Kamma and Kapu communities, three from the Reddy community, and one from the Vysya community.

TDP secured majority 

While Mr Naidu hails from the socially and politically influential Kamma community, Pawan Kalyan represents the Kapu community.
