A tragic incident happened in Andhra Pradesh‘s Annamaya district, when a jeep and a lorry collided on Friday morning, killing five people and eleven others were injured, said the officials.
Among the 11 injured, seven of them were said to be in serious condition, said the police. They were immediately rushed to the hospital for further treatment.
The deceased included two men and three women, said police.
Speaking to the news agency ANI, Nagababu, circle inspector, Methampally said, “A total of five people perished in the accident. Of the injured persons, seven are said to be in serious condition. They are admitted at the Tirupati Rua Hospital.”
As seven people are in critical condition, the death toll is likely to increase.
“The toll is likely to go up,” an official said.
According to a visual accessed by ANI, it showed that the front portion of the lorry was damaged from the impact of the collision while the jeep was in a mangled state.
Reportedly, the lorry was on its way to Chittor from Kadapa while the jeep was carrying 16 pilgrims, who were returning from a visit to Tirumala toBelagavi, Karnataka when the two vehicles met the accident.
