On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second edition of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS) at Namo Ghat in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The event was attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other leaders.

About Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2.0

Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023 is an initiative organized by the Government of India as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, which celebrates the 75th year of India's independence. The goal is to uphold the spirit of 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat' (One India, Best India).

The second edition of KTS will be held from December 17-30, 2023. It is part of the government's Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Yuva Sangam program that aims to strengthen ties between the youth of different Indian states.

Connecting North and South India

The KTS celebrates the shared history and culture between North and South India. It brings together knowledge, traditions, arts, cuisine and more from both regions to facilitate cultural exchange.

The event will see the participation of 1,400 dignitaries from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry across various fields. Exhibitions showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Kashi and Tamil Nadu will also be held.

Building Cultural Bonds

Like the inaugural edition, Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023 aims to revive connections between Varanasi and Tamil Nadu - two important ancient centres of culture and learning. The goal is to facilitate people-to-people linkages across communities.

Over 2,500 people from Tamil Nadu participated in the first KTS edition held from November to December 2022. Participants travelled to various destinations in Uttar Pradesh and took part in immersive cultural experiences.
