The security forces have recovered a charred body of a terrorist after Anantnag encounter enters Day 6. According to the security personnels, looking at the clothing pattern of body recovered, it is believed that the body belongs to a terrorist.
Notably, the search operation in Anantnag began on Wednesday and has taken live of four army personnels, so far. The intense firing was reported on Sunday. However, no firing has been reported on Monday.
Colonel Manpreet Singh, Commanding Officer of 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Ashish Dhonchak, Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police and a soldier Humayun Bhat were killed by the terrorists in the area on Wednesday.
As the intense gunfight between security personnels and terrorists enters Day 6, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said the deaths of soldiers, including two senior officers, will be avenged.
During the addressal at the event titled ‘Hum Sab Ek Hai’ at SKICC, Srinagar, the L-G said that his administration was committed to maintain lasting peace in the region, the people of Jammu and Kashmir also want to be rid of terrorism. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also attended the event.

“We are committed to maintaining peace in Jammu and Kashmir. We will avenge the deaths of our soldiers. Those involved will be given a befitting reply and will have to pay a heavy price. The whole country is standing with our brave soldiers today. I have no doubt in my mind that the people of Jammu and Kashmir also want to be rid of terrorism,” L-G Sinha said.
“We all should take a pledge to defeat terrorism in the region and counter the challenges to security. The contribution of this region to creating a developed Bharat will be no less than any other state,” he added.
